First Day of Summer Vacation

Monday marked the first day of summer vacation for our family. When the kids got up I reminded them that they needed to clean up their rooms. After bedrooms were clean we practiced math facts, made laundry assigments for the summer as well as chore assignments. The kids have for the most part been doing their own laundry and it has helped me out a ton!!! The older kids each get 2 laundry days a week. Hopefully we can stick with our routine and have a smooth summer! Here's hoping!
After their hard work around the house the boys went and swam at a friends home and I took Bean and a few of her friends to our neighborhood pool. Have I mentioned how much I love this pool? It is never ever crowded which is wonderful! I also love that they have a kiddie pool for the little ones. Chief loves the water and this is just perfect for him. I absolutely LOVE Buffalo summers and today was perfect.

Chief was totally content with his bucket. He kept filling it up and dumping it out. I think many summer days will be spent in the kiddie pool.

This little girl loved Chief!

Tanks and Rain Puddles

The other day Chief found a rain puddle and decided he would drive his tank through it. Chief is fascinated with puddles and anything that has wheels on it.

Love Your Favorite and First Born Son

Today was the last day of school for the chickens. While going through the mounds and mounds of paper I found this written at the bottom of one of Grant's journal entries. He makes me laugh all of the time!

It reads, "Love your favorite and first born son."

First and Last Day of 1st Grade

Bean with her first grade teacher Mrs. Walter on the last day of school. Bean has grown up so much this year. She is an awesome reader and writer and is not afraid to tell you! Not only has she grown academically, but physically as well. She grew 1 inch since September and 9 pounds.

Growing like a Weed

We had a great year and Goose loved his teacher Mrs. Ritz. This year Goose has grown quite a bit as well. Since September he has gained 14 pounds and is 2 3/4 inches taller.

You would think Goose would be happier since it is the last day of third grade. June 2011

Grant with his teacher Mrs. Messana on the last day of elementary school. G absolutely loved his teacher this year! She was wondeful!!! G has grown quite a bit. In fact since the first day of fourth grade he has gained 15 pounds and 3 3/4 inches in height!!! He's going to be taller than me in no time!!!

2010-2011 Granny's Artwork

Here are my top 3 pieces of artwork G created during fourth grade.

2010-2011 Artwork by Goose

Here our my favorite pieces of artwork Goose drew this year.

2010-2011 Bean's Artwork

After going through all of Bean's artwork for her 1st grade year I picked these 3 as my favorite.

Strawberry Picking

Every year we have lived here we have went strawberry picking. It is one of our favorite traditions. This year due to the really wet spring the strawberry picking season didn't last long. The berries were small, but tasted delicious. I love fresh picked fruit, especially when it's warm. I'm not a fan of cold fruit. Chief loved his first time "picking." Of course there was only one muddy spot in the entire patch and guess who found it? Oliver George.

Chief did eat some berries straight from the patch without paying for them.

Chief, Bean and Goose.

The kids hard at work.

Goose disgusted with this berry.

Goose holding the biggest berry he found.

Chief enjoying the fruits of his labor.

Chief was such a good little helper...

Bean searching for the perfect berry.

Bean insisted pulling Chief in the wagon to the strawberry fields.Chief loved the ride and kept leaning over the edge of the Radio Flyer.

A Sunday Walk Turns Frogs

Goose always takes us to the best spots. I am always amazed at the things he finds.

Bean leading the way through the nature trail. Granny's legs make me itch.

Granny carried this little guy around for quite some time, afterall this guy was hard to catch.

Goose is so proud of his ghetto hat. He purchased it at Kid Biz for a buck fifty.

Goose caught this beauty.

Granny went in to catch a frog not realizing how deep the mud was.

Fourth Grade Recognition and BBQ

The other day all the fourth graders got to have a pic-nic outside. They grilled hotdogs and not just any hotdog, but Sahlens. This just happens to be Granny's favorite kind. After they ate they played football and several minute to win it games. We had a great time!

Granny always love to see his baby brother at school!

The other day Grant had his fourth grade recognition. Although, I believe it went longer than Jeremy's college graduation it was great! I can't believe Granny will be in Middle School in September! Thankfully I've heard they keep them pretty seperated from the bigger kids.
Granny with some of his fourth grade buddies.

We absolutely loved Granny's teacher this year. Here she is giving her little speech.
