New York City Day Trip

On June 14th Jeremy and I headed to New York City for the day. I found a screaming deal on plane tickets for the 1 hour flight. We left at 3:00 a.m. and got home around 10:00 p.m. that same day. This was our first time in the city. We skipped all the shopping and focused on site seeing and food. The list was simple and looked something like this:
Eat a NY Bagel
Eat some NY style pepperoni pizza
Eat some good Italian food in Little Italy
Eat some Gelato
Visit Central Park
Take some pictures of fresh flower stands and fruit stands
See if there are really as many pigeons as people say there are. HELLO there everywhere!?!?! Seriously, I had no idea!
Mission Accomplished! We did all of the above, plus we saw tons and tons of sites. As a bonus we also got to see Jeremy's brother. It was so good to see some family, and next time hopefully we can see his wife and son. The reason we "had" to go to the city was because we had a meeting with our LDS Family Services social worker Ann. We are working on getting our paperwork completed to adopt again and had some things we needed to do their with our worker. We are working through the mounds of paperwork and should be approved to adopt shortly. Once we get approved we have to find our own birthmother. This is not an easy task, but Jeremy and I both feel very strongly that if it is meant to be that we adopt again we will find our birthmother. Jeremy and I both know we have another child and can't wait to find another birthmother! We feel so blessed to have such a wonderful relationship with Oliver's birthmother and are so grateful for birthmother's everywhere. So we were running a little late to our appt. We only had 15 minutes to there. Jeremy just so happened to see this bike with a little carriage attached. He talked to the guy and the guy said he could get us to our meeting in time. So we hopped in the carriage and he took us through Central Park on this little bike and got us to our meeting right in time. Actually I think we were like 5 minutes late, but he got us there a lot faster than we could have on our own. We were not too familiar with the address of where the meeting was at and our "driver" knew exactly the location. This was the highlight of our trip and I highly reccomend taking one of these through Central Park. It was hysterical and so much fun!!! We had a great time being alone and exploring the city of New York!

Several hundreds of pounds of Jeremy and I combined kicked back and relaxed while our 100 pound driver got us to our meeting right in time. It was hilarious!!

I was a little scared for my life. Our "driver" kept going in and out of cars and pedaled so close to them!

I loved this part of the city because there wasn't much of a crowd.

United Nations building located on the East Side of Manhatten.

One of my favorite parts of New York City was the fresh flowers and fruit stands everywhere.

We met Jeremy's brother Barrett for dinner in Little Italy. My dinner was delicious!!! I ordered eggplant parmesan which was out of this world good. Barrett ordered octopus and it looked like something my boys bring home from the pond. Jeremy got a seafood dish, and loved it. It was so nice to see family! After dinner we stopped and got Gelato. I love this picture of Jeremy and his brother. Isn't the height difference crazy?!?! :)

Little Italy....

Jeremy talking with his brother Barrett on the phone at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Jeremy and I stopped and had a slice of pizza at a little hole in the wall for lunch. It was seriously delicious and tasted a lot like Peter Piper Pizza in Utah. I now crave this pizza. YUMMY!!!

Central Park is huge, green and beautiful. We had a great time walking around, and could have probably spent the entire day there.

I'm a Mormon and Mormon.org, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to see this message on the tops of countless taxi's!

The streets of New York lined with yellow taxi's.

I loved all these clocks!

Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown Manhatten.

Next time Jeremy and I will have to take a horse drawn carriage through Central Park.

China Town...

Radio City Music Hall...

Rainbow Room...

The Brooklyn Bridge, love this!

Trump Tower...

Wall Street, forgot to get a picture of the Bull.

Love that they have an American flag hanging up!!!

Hundreds of workers were on site at Ground Zero working on completing the memorial.

This was a memorial for September 11th. Children from a local elementary school decorated little tiles to remember those who lost their lives in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

This is the cathedral where Donald Trump married his "first" wife.

Empire State Building...

This is Broadway, you can see the Regal Theatre in the distance.

Hard Rock Cafe on Broadway.

This is where they drop the ball on New Year's Eve in Times Square.

A much too close closeup of Jeremy and I...

Good Morning America...

Times Square!

After getting off the subway we immediately went and got a bagel and ate in Time Square.
