The other day our little lady was at her well child visit. The doctor noticed that her heart sounded a bit funny. She had me listen to Clark's heart and then Adelaide's. Sure enough Clark's heart sounded normal and Adelaide's had a beat and a really loud swishing sound. The doctor referred us to a pediatric cardiologist downtown. So today I took our little Miss in for her first EKG and Echo. Sure enough she has a hole in her heart. The doctor says the hole is small. The smaller the hole the louder the swishing sound is because blood pushes really hard to get through the teeny hole. He said she was born with it and doctors probably never caught it because the hole was most likely a lot larger and therefore, we don't here the swishing sound as much. So the good news is that it has gotten smaller. Even better news is she is absolutely 100% ok. She doesn't need special medication or heart surgery. Such a huge relief! He said I just need to make sure that she has really good oral hygiene because with the hole there is a higher chance of infection. So as long as she brushes, flosses sees the dentist regulary we don't have to worry. We will go again in a year for a follow-up. Feeling so grateful and blessed right now. We love her so incredibly much. I could have 10 more if they were all like this little lady. She is the sweetest.
