It all started last week. I took the children to Peter Baker Farms and we picked and picked and picked. We picked 4 bushels of tomatoes. We washed them, cored them, smashed them, cooked them, strained them and processed them. It was a lot of work, but oh so worth it!!! Macaroni and Tomato juice is by far my most favorite food. I grew up on it and continue to eat it for lunch nearly every day. It's that good! :) And no I don't get sick of it. Never. In fact, just writing about it makes me want to go make a bowl. I think Jeremy has just about went nuts this week with my crazy canning. Tomatoes were basically every where that you looked. I think Jeremy secretly likes Mac and Tom. I have caught him getting a bowl when I have made it before. He just doesn't like to admit that it's DELICIOUS! Ha! Last year I ran out so early in the year so I had to get an early start. I really hope I can go get several more bushels. I am just worried about running out again! :) The first day that I canned I kept Chief entertained in the kitchen sink. He loved splashing in the water and spraying his feet with the squirter. He was in there for a good 2 hours before I was able to put him to bed. The other days I started just right before his bedtime. I can't can and watch Chief at the same time! Canning is not difficult just time consuming. I absolutely love doing it though. I remember my mom canning when I was younger and it is really important for me to have my children seeing me do it. I love hearing the lids on the jars *POP* once they are processed. Reminds me so much of my childhood, except now I am the one in the kitchen and not my mom.

8 half bushels took up the car! |

If I had some pepper and salt I could just sit and eat these all day! |

When I was canning I thought this is hysterical and I want to remember this moment always. So I snapped a picture. Do you see Chief in the sink? Kept him entertained forever! |
